| The DeKalb County School System has a long history of care and concern for students with special needs. Exceptional Education and Support Services, consisting of professionals with specialized training, provides services for these students and their parents. |
| The countywide support program includes Counseling, Gifted and High Achievers Education, GLRS (Georgia Learning Resource System), Parent Mentor Program, Prevention/Intervention, Psychological Services and School Social Work. |
| The countywide exceptional education program includes Enrichment (i.e. Academic Bowl, Advanced Placement, Gifted Education Governor's Honors, High Achievers), Parent Mentor for Exceptional Education, and Special Education. |
