Research and Evaluation
The Department of Research and Evaluation provides support to all schools, centers, and departments. It conducts district-wide surveys and data collection for instructional improvement and planning initiatives; coordinates and manages requests to conduct educational research; compiles reviews of literature and identifies current trends in education to support the superintendent in planning for the future; provides research consultation to schools, departments, and professional staff; and offers technical training and assistance to schools, departments, and professional staff on grant writing.
The Department of Research and Evaluation supports the mission and goals of the DeKalb County Schools by producing fair, accurate and relevant information, and ensuring high-quality data collection and data-based decision making through collaboration and communication with others.
Grants Unit
The mission of the grants unit is to coordinate and provide assistance with grants and other funding opportunities by:
- establishing, implementing, and coordinating a comprehensive plan for grants and resource development;
- maintaining an online clearinghouse/database for grant applications;
- implementing online procedure for approval of grant applications;
- identifying and pursuing funding sources and collaborations;
- communicating unit goals, procedures, and outcomes to various audiences;
- providing professional development and technical assistance to system personnel to build capacity and seek funding; and
- securing new funding for district programs and projects.
