Overview
The Prevention/Intervention department has been a vital and dynamic department of the DeKalb County School District since 1990. A component of the Division of Student Support Services, Prevention/Intervention designs, implements, and monitors substance abuse and violence prevention activities for all students. Prevention/Intervention specialists are employed to provide services in schools. There are also part-time facilitators who work in Saturday intervention programs (GRIP, POINTS, E-POINTS) for students who have violated certain rules and/or policies that are substance abuse or violence related. Students attend these programs with their parents.
