DeKalb Partners In Education Brochure(PDF)
The DeKalb Partners In Education Programis a vital program in which over 500 businesses and community organizations have formed partnerships with DeKalb schools to work with faculty, parents and staff to enrich the education of DeKalb's girls and boys. Since its inception in 1983, Partners In Education has provided strong volunteer support for our schools. The human resource, financial and "hands-on" support received by DeKalb schools from the participating business/industrial community contributes significantly to instructional programs, teacher recognition and school-community projects.
The mission of DeKalb Partners In Education Program is to create, to maintain, and to focus on a collaboration through which corporations, businesses, industries, colleges and universities, civic and professional groups, and governmental institutions form partnerships with schools, centers, and programs in order to help educators provide enhanced educational opportunities for DeKalb students.
DeKalb Partners In Education Goals:
  • Academic Achievement
    improving student academic achievement
  • Community Connections
teaching students to use resources in the greater community to prepare for successful lives
  • Human Relations
helping students become contributing members of their community
There is room in DeKalb's Partners In Education Program for businesses of all sizes to enthusiastically participate. Participation in the Partners In Education Program requires strong commitment from both the school and the partner. Good partnerships thrive when there is a well working relationship between the school and the business, and when the needs of the school are well-matched with the Partner's resources.
In addition to the individual school partnerships, our Partners support the Teacher of the Year, which honors the best teachers in the school system with a tea, an annual dinner each November and other recognition awards. The Partners also sponsor the Board Scholars Tea, which honors distinguished graduating seniors. The DeKalb Partners In Education annual luncheon toward the end of the school yar celebrates the partnership between the business community and the schools, and is enjoyed by school and business partners alike.
In January 2008, The DeKalb County Public Schools Foundation, Inc. assumed operation of DeKalb County Partners in Education, Inc.
