The mission of the Telecommunications Department is to provide an integrated communication service for the DeKalb County School System. |
Goals- Supply a highly reliable, modern communications infrastructure.
- Provide a fully secure voice network.
- Provide research and development for new voice technology initiatives.

| Our department strives to provide service excellence to all of DeKalb. Services and support consist of desktop telephone installations, repair, and moves, adds, and changes for over 13,000 telephones. In addition the Telecommunications department provides and maintains Blackberries and/or mobile devices for designated staff. The DeKalb “1200 Main Line” Call Center is staffed with four agents who provide assistance for the public and function as the “Voice of DeKalb”. Our voice network processes over two million calls per month. Additionally, each evening our Synrevoice system notifies parents regarding student absentees which are reported through the Student Information System. This “Calling Post” system also provides weekend “Broadcast Announcement Services” in order to assist the local schools with reaching parents for special announcements. Other services facilitated by this department include filing applications for Federal E-Rate funding, voice support for Sub-Finder (Substitute teacher), traffic studies, and reports for data and industry trend analysis. |
