The Kittredge PTA will be selling agendas, bare books for art and other KMS specific items during registration in August and throughout the school year.
Race To The Top
You may have heard about Race To The Top, the Common Core  Georgia Performance Standards [ http://georgiastandards.org ], and new evaluation instruments for teachers and school administrators. Next school year, 2012 - 2013, many of these initiatives will be in place in DeKalb Couty School District.
Race to the Top is a federal grant opportunity in which Georgia public schools are participating. The goal of Race To The Top is to support new approaches to improving education. DeKalb County Schools have been involved in preparing for Race to the Top initiatives for the past two years.
Beginning next school year, the following components of Race To The Top will be in place in DeKalb County Schools:
Teachers and School Administrators will be evaluated using a new Teacher / Leader Effectiveness Measure. This evaluation instrument Teacher/ Leader KEYS provides individuals with a more in-depth evaluation than currently used, giving the individual constructive feedback about teaching and leadership practices.
The new Common Core Georgia Performance Standards [ http://georgiastandards.org ] will be used in English/Language Arts and Math. The CCGPS standards are designed to prepare students to succeed in college and the work force and to compete in the global economy.
Georgia will implement a state-wide longitudinal data system that allow teachers to measure student growth and inform teachers and principals about how to improve instruction.
Kittredge Magnet School will continue to engage students with opportunities in STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
