The Druid Hills Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) brings youth together to raise tolerance and awareness of different sexual orientations and gender identities. We believe everyone, regardless of their differences, deserves the chance to come to school and learn in a safe, harassment-free environment. Through discussions, guest speakers, leadership training and community activities, we plan to create a fun, supportive, tolerance-building and consciousness-raising environment for all students.

       


   

The main goal for GSA is to create a place where gay, lesbian, bisexual, etc., students can meet with straight students to promote education and community interaction to offer mutual support and to generate confidence, protection and productivity.

Meeting Times: 2nd and 4th Thursdays after school in Dr. King-Rogers' room.

Possible activities include:
  • Participate in National Coming Out Day and the Day of Silence
  • Fight against homophobia in our school
  • Educate about history, modern activities and problems
  • Invite guest speakers to address the group
  • Discuss the terminology of alternative identities
  • Socialize in and outside of school activities
  • Volunteer work
  • Field trips
  • Have FUN, FUN, FUN!!!
  • So much more!!

Requirements for Joining: Be open-minded, friendly and ready to have good time!
