CONGRATULATIONS KIMBERLY CLARK...CHES 2012 Teacher of the Year!!!!! |
I was raised by a hardworking single mother who was also an educator for 39 years. My mother and her parents constantly instilled a will in me to be determined, responsible, hardworking, dedicated, and driven in life. With these values, I began my personal journey in hopes of enlightening the paths of others. I am a graduate of Bethune Cookman College where I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management.
After relocating from Florida to Atlanta, I decided that I could be more of service to others by enriching the lives of children. I decided to go back to school and obtain my educational certification at Mercer University. While attending Mercer, I was hired at Chapel Hill Elementary School as a Paraprofessional in the Special Education Department in 2002. This rewarding experience assured me that I was where I wanted and needed to be. Mrs. Cynthia Swanson hired me as a 2nd grade teacher after my studies at Mercer University were completed. I continued my educational path by attending Central Michigan University where I received my Master of Arts Degree in Instruction. The characteristics and values that were instilled in me as a child motivated me to earn my Education Specialist Degree in Leadership at Nova Southeastern University. The drive and motivation to strengthen and improve the teaching profession so that all students are afforded the opportunity to receive the very best educational opportunities possible has put me on my path of earning my Doctorate in Leadership at Nova Southeastern University.
When thinking about all of the rewarding experiences that I have had the pleasure of being a part of as a teacher at Chapel Hill Elementary School, it fills me with overwhelming joy. The dedication of all our staff in the pursuit of educating our students keeps us all on our toes and continually focused. I would like to take this time out to thank our community, parents, and most of all the staff and faculty at Chapel Hill that are not only my friends but have become, to me and my son Kameron, my extended family away from home. Being committed to the belief that “all” students can learn will continue to drive and motivate me to remain true to my goals of providing the very best educational opportunities to children and stay on my driven path of enlightening the paths of others.
Sincerely,
Kimberly Clark

Test-Taking Tips for Parent(s)/Guardian(s) |
1) Make sure your child attends school regularly. Remember that tests reflect the overall achievement of your child. Time spent in learning situations increases the likelihood that he/she will do well on tests.
2) Give your child encouragement. Praise him/her for the things done well throughout the year. A child who is afraid of failing is more likely to make a mistake.
3) See that your child has a well-rounded diet. A healthy body leads to a healthy, active mind.
4) See that your child completes homework assignments. Homework supports classroom instruction and can help your child increase his/her comprehension of the classroom work.
5) Meet with your child's teacher(s) as often as possible to discuss your child's progress.
6) Parents and teachers should work together to benefit the child.
7) Ask the teacher(s) to suggest activities for you to do at home with your child. Such activities can help your child improve his/her understanding of schoolwork.
8) Make sure your child is well rested on school days. Children who are tired are less likely to pay attention in class or to handle the demands of class work and tests.
9) Try not to be overly anxious about test scores. Too much emphasis on test scores can be upsetting to children.
10) Find out which tests your child will take and for what purposes. The school principal or counselor should provide you with a schedule of testing for the year and explain the use of the tests.
11) Make sure your child arrives on time for school.
12) If your child wears an assistive device, such as a hearing aid and/or glasses, be sure he/she remembers to bring it and wear it during all testing sessions.
